A removable rail section (3) and one or more carriages (6) secured to it with objects (7) hanging from them can be hitched to the fixed transport rail (2). The removable section can be pivoted relative to the fixed rail when it is hitched to it. A lifting device (11) is provided for raising and lowering the removable rail section. An independent claim is also included for a method for hitching and unhitching the removable rail section by moving it in a vertical direction.
