PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially oriented polyester film excellent in dimensional stability, particularly in creep characteristics, by a short-time heat treatment. SOLUTION: The biaxially oriented polyester film is obtained by incorporating an enthalpy relaxation promoting agent with it, subjecting it to a heat treatment at 60°C for 48 hr and subsequently leaving it at 25°C and 60% RH for 24 hr, and has a creep deformation amount in the longitudinal direction of at most 500 ppm.
