PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic optical cable which is excellent in mechanical characteristics and incombustibility and does not give bad influences to the environment. SOLUTION: The plastic optical cable 11 is provided with an element wire 12 and a first covering material 13 for tight covering the element wire; a second covering material 18 on a circumference of the first covering material; and a tensile-strength fiber 17 arranged between the first covering material 13 and the second covering material 18. The second covering material 18 includes a metalhydroxide and a polymer and the blending rate of the metalhydroxide to the polymer is to 50 to 75 weight %. The plastic optical cable resists repetitive bending, shows excellent incombustibility in burning experiment under severe conditions, and is friendly to the environment. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
