PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which convenience can be enhanced when document image data is stored. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus having a scanner for reading out a document image becoming the object of copy, holding document image data obtained by means of the scanner and forming an image based on the document image data on a medium comprises a means for selecting color or monochrome mode when the document image data is stored, and a means for selecting color or monochrome mode when an image based on the document image data is formed on a medium.
