METHOD OF PRODUCING CARBON MICROFIBER-CONTAINING RESIN COMPOSITION

A method of producing a carbon microfiber-containing resin composition, in which carbon microfibers are dispersed and blended in a thermoplastic resin, by feeding the carbon microfibers and the thermoplastic resin into a kneading extruder and kneading them together, which comprises feeding the thermoplastic resin from the main feeding port of the kneading extruder, in the state where the thermoplastic resin is transported and melted in a screw barrel of the kneading extruder, feeding the carbon microfibers from a sub-feeding port connected to the middle of the screw barrel pathway of the kneading extruder, and kneading the carbon microfibers with the thermoplastic resin in the melted state, wherein the cylinder temperature of the kneading extruder is controlled to such a level as giving a melt flow index of the thermoplastic resin of from 10 to 30 under a load of 2.16 kg as specified in JIS K7210, the retention time of the carbon microfiber-containing resin composition in the kneading extruder is from 25 to 100 seconds, and the shear speed of the screw segment of the kneading extruder upon the carbon microfiber-containing resin composition is set to 10000 to 30000/sec.
