PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing the deterioration of image quality in advance by obtaining a cleaning member capable of maintaining a cleaning function over a long period by increasing capacity for accumulating unnecessary substance wiped out from an object to be cleaned, thereby preventing soil from remaining on the object to be cleaned even in a long-period use. SOLUTION: The cleaning member is mounted in the image forming apparatus as a cleaning roller 30 where a long-length slit 33 opened/closed when sliding in contact with the outer peripheral surface 13a of an electrifying roller 13 is formed on the outer peripheral surface 31a of a main body part 31 formed of sponge in roller shape, thereby removing toner or the like adhering to the electrifying roller 13 by scraping it by the edge 33a of the long-length slit 33 while wiping it out by the outer peripheral surface 31a, and holding it in the long-length slit 33.
