This technology relates to a new electrolyte formulation comprising sulphuric acid and colloidal and / or ionic silver for lead acid batteries. The basic chemistry of the lead acid battery is unaffected other than the scavenging of sulphate that affects the life time and float current performance of the battery. Reduced charging times and increased active life of both the electrodes and the electrolyte is obtained by the use of the invention. |
