<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an actuator and an optical pickup device which can easily and quickly adjust positions of optical components using a polymer actuator. <P>SOLUTION: The ratio of saturation displacement amounts of ACT1, ACT2, and ACT3 is 4:2:1. ACT2 and ACT3 are connected to ACT1 in parallel. When a saturation potential is applied, ACT1 shrinks longitudinally and ACT2 and ACT3 extends longitudinally, in which case a resolution of a displacement stroke has 8 steps. An aberration correcting lens is joined to a movable end. A driving amount calculating circuit 602 which calculates a driving amount of lens based on disk classification signals and aberration correction signals and supplies the result to an A/D converter 601. The A/D converter 601 converts the driving amount into binary bits (3 bits) and applies a saturation electric potential V1, V2 and V3 to signal lines when a hit value is 1. Thus, the driving amount calculated by the driving amount calculating circuit 602 is generated on the movable end of a polymer actuator 300 to drive the lens. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
