PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a core raising and lowering device capable of raising and lowering a core smoothly by preventing the core from tilting and realizing stable burning and fire extinguishing. SOLUTION: This core raising and lowering device for the petroleum burner is provided with a core raising and lowering shaft 1 for performing core raising and lowering operation, a core inner cylinder 3 erected from a bottom plate of an oil tank 2, and a core outer cylinder 4 attached to an upper face plate of the oil tank 2, and the core 6 is attached into a clearance of a core storing cylinder 5 constituted by the core inner cylinder 3 and the core outer cylinder 4 so as to move vertically and freely. A driving pin 7a is formed at a movable end of a driving plate 7 attached to an inward end of the core raising and lowering shaft 1, and a connection part 9 is attached to a side face of a core holder 8 attached to the outer periphery of the core 6. The driving pin 7a of the driving plate 7 is fitted into a long hole 9a formed in the connection part 9, and the core holder 8 is driven by the driving pin 7a when the core raising and lowering shaft 1 turns to move the core 6 vertically. A driving regulation part 10 is arranged between the driving plate 7 and the connection part 9 and is abutted on a side face of the connection part 9 to press the core holder 8 against a core 6 side in order to prevent the core 6 from tilting.
