Filter comprises a housing (2) with an inlet (4) for unfiltered liquid at one end, a hollow filter element (3) arranged inside the housing so that the liquid flows in a spiral path to the other end of the housing, and an outlet (5) for withdrawing filtrate from within the filter element. Independent claims are also included for: (1) filter system comprising a filter as above with the outlet connected to a pump for drawing off the filtrate; (2) filtering process in which unfiltered liquid is supplied to a filter, flows in a spral path over the surface of a filter element, passes through the surface into the filter element and is withdrawn from there as filtrate.
