MAGNESIUM WELD LINE

摘要

A magnesium weld line excelling in surface cleanness; and a process for producing the same. There is provided a weld line produced by wiredrawing a parent material, such as extrudate, of pure magnesium or magnesium base alloy and shaving the surface of resultant drawn wire. By the shaving operation after the wiredrawing, not only any lubricant or coating used in the wiredrawing but also any oxides formed during the wiredrawing can be effectively removed. Therefore, the obtained weld line excels in surface cleanness. It is preferred that as the lubricant for use in wiredrawing, use be made of a wet lubricant or oil base lubricant whose removal can be easily attained by cleaning or degreasing treatment.
