<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide surgical polyolefin suture having enhanced durability and fray resistance. <P>SOLUTION: A suture comprising: a sterilized filament including a composition containing a polyolefin and a thiodipropionate expressed by the formula R-OOCCH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>SCH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>COO-R where R is a 13C or more alkyl group in an amount large enough to reduce fray, wherein the polyolefin is selected from the group consisting of polypropylene, polyethylene, copolymers of polyethylene and polypropylene and combinations thereof, and wherein the thiodipropionate is selected from the group consisting of distearylthiodipropionate, ditridecylthiodipropionate and combinations thereof. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
