摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain sharp display by increasing the aperture ratio of a display region by making the area of a light shield member formed around a sub-pixel as a minimum unit of display as small as possible. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device has a plurality of data lines 19 provided on a substrate 7a, a plurality of switching elements 21 provided while being connected to the data lines 19, an inter-layer insulating film 22 which covers the data lines 19 and switching elements 21, and a plurality of pixel electrodes 23 which are provided on the inter-layer insulating film 22 and connected to the switching elements 21 through a contact hole 27. The data lines 19 are provided overlapping the pixel electrodes 23 in plane view. In a plurality of linear gaps which are formed between the plurality of pixel electrodes 23 and extend in the same direction of the data lines 19, linear light shield members 29 are provided overlapping in plane view.
