885,913. Supporting and mounting bearings. SOC. GENERALE ISOTHERMOS. April 9, 1959 [Feb. 11, 1959], No. 12064/59. Class 12 (1). An assembly key A, for the upper half-bearing 23 of an axle box 3, has a pawl C pivotally mounted at one end so that, upon lifting the axle box 3 an amount equal to the clearance between a stub-shaft 5 and the bearing 23, the pawl C automatically locks the key between the axle box and the bearing when the key is inserted. The bearing is formed with a recess M, which receives the pawl C, and with shoulders F1, F2, which the pawl and the end of the key abut, respectively. The pawl has a catch D, a lug L and flat portions P, Q and is eccentrically pivoted about a pin B. The shape of the pawl prevents it from being fitted incorrectly into the recess M. |
