<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform automatic performance without sense of incongruity by determining the pitch of performance information for play-back so that the pitch is suitable for a string instrument in the case of the automatic performance based on the performance information. <P>SOLUTION: The note number 30 among an accompaniment pattern data PD(g) composed of an SMF format and created dedicatedly for a six-stringed guitar is constituted of string information 31 and position information 32. The string information 31 specifies which string (one) of the 1st through the 6th strings of the guitar should be plunked, and the position information 32 specifies one of two or more pitches which can be plunked with the string specified by the string information 31. In the case of a chord pattern matching mode, a pitch in accordance with a combination of the string information 31 and the position information 32 is determined with reference to a pitch conversion table for guitar corresponding to an input code inputted in the code key area.
