Agent (I) for simultaneous dyeing and brightening of human hair comprises at least a direct dye and at least a carbonate and/or its precursor; where the direct dye comprises 157 compounds e.g. acid red 37 (CI 17045), acid orange 52 (CI 13025), disperse blue 106 (CI 111935), thionin (CI 52000), basic blue 17 (CI 52040), 4-nitro-o-phenylenediamine and 4-amino-2-nitrophenol. Agent (I) for simultaneous dyeing and brightening of human hair comprises at least a direct dye and at least a carbonate and/or its precursor; where the direct dye comprises 157 compounds e.g. acid red 37 (CI 17045), acid orange 52 (CI 13025), disperse blue 106 (CI 111935), thionin (CI 52000), basic blue 17 (CI 52040), 4-nitro-o-phenylenediamin, 4-amino-2-nitrophenol, acid yellow24(CI 10315), acid orange 5 (CI 13080), basic blue 77, 1,5-diphenylthiocarbazone, N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4-nitroaniline, 4-chloro-N-(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)-2-nitroaniline, 3-(2',6'-diaminopyridyl-3-azo)pyridine, 4-(2-thiazolylazo)resorcinol, disperse violet 3, HC red 13, HC blue 11, 1-propen-(4'-amino-2'-nitrophenyl)amine, basic violet 2 and 2-(2'-hydroxyethyl)amino-1-hydroxy-4,6-dinitrobenzene. An independent claim is included for simultaneous dyeing and brightening of human hair comprising: preparing a homogeneous composition by mixing (I) with an aqueous base containing hydrogen peroxide; and applying the mixture on the hair.
