The gearbox housing (10) has a peripheral wall (14) adjoining at one end a shoulder face (32) of a housing cover (16) and fitted to same through several head screws (40) whose centre axes (40a) have a distance (a) from the inner sleeve face of the peripheral wall greater than the radius of the screw shafts of the screws. The screws fit in threaded holes (46) in screw sections (S) supported on the wall on the inside. The head screws are sealed in the cover area through a sealing ring (24).
