摘要 A method and an apparatus for detecting motion, using an inertia sensor are provided to reduce power consumed in the inertia sensor by supplying power only when the logic state of a pulse-type power control signal is high. A motion detector(100) includes an inertia sensor(120) and a controller(130). The inertia sensor receives power, which is selectively supplied to or disconnected from the inertia sensor according to a power control signal, and generates an analog signal related to the inertia. The controller generates the power control signal, samples the analog signal related to the inertia, and converts the sampled result to a digital value. The pulse width of the power control signal is determined by reflecting the sampling period and the digital conversion period and then reflecting an operation standby period of the inertia sensor from the converted digital value.
