A method for processing a music file in a mobile communication terminal is provided to execute a corresponding function if an inputted signal satisfies a preset critical range and/or critical time, thereby preventing malfunctions due to carelessness of a user without an additional locking device such as a hold key and accordingly increasing the convenience of the user. When a predetermined signal is inputted from an external input device during reproduction of a music file, direction information of the inputted signal is analyzed(205~209). After that, a controller determines whether the inputted signal moves beyond a critical range and is continuously inputted(211). If so, a function corresponding to the direction information is executed(213). If not, the inputted signal is regarded as an error signal. In the direction information of the inputted signal, the direction is right or left.
