PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method capable of taking out a surface reflection component of an object at the time of photographing as data different from scene image data of the object, processing the image in postprocessing by using the component and correcting the reflection optical component for one part of the scene. SOLUTION: In the image processing method, a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements arranged in plane are included, the object is photographed by a solid-state image pickup element in which a polarization characteristic is provided to one part of the elements, and the surface reflection optical component of the object is detected from polarization data acquired from a photoelectric conversion element having the polarization characteristic of the corresponding image pickup element and object image data acquired from a photoelectric conversion element of the other portion.
