PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nose-view monitoring system for calculating a passing estimated time when a mobile object approaching its own vehicle passes by the direction facing the front of the vehicle and carrying out indication (warning) of the approaching object and brake control in response to the obtained passing estimated time and its own vehicle velocity. SOLUTION: The nose-view monitoring system includes: a nose-view camera 1 fitted to the front of the vehicle to image sides of the vehicle; a characteristic point detection means 11 for detecting a characteristic point in side images and calculating a motion vector of the detected characteristic point; a mobile body detection means 12 for detecting an aggregate of a plurality of characteristic points approaching the vehicle in the side images as an approaching mobile object on the basis of the calculated motion vector of the characteristic points; a characteristic point tracing means 13 for tracing the detected characteristic points of the approaching mobile object; and a passing time calculation means 14 for obtaining a time when the approaching mobile object passes by the vehicle front on the basis of the characteristic points of the approaching mobile body traced by the characteristic point tracing means 13.
