PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing in a high yield pestalotin known to have an effect as a synergist of giberellin. SOLUTION: Pestalotin is produced by culturing a fungus belonging to Penicillium sclerotiorum TBUYN-1. In culturing the fungus, since pestalotin is synthesized by adding at least one of glucose, sucrose, polypeptone and proline to a medium, pestalotin is produced not only under a mild condition but also in a high yield.
