On the surfaces of the 1st substrate 11 and 2nd substrate 12 which face the liquid crystal 15, alignment layers 5 are formed which are aligned in the Y direction. A potential supply circuit 27 for transition supplies different potentials to one pixel electrode 35 and another pixel electrode 35 which are adjacent along the Y direction. At an opposite edge portion 62 which is a peripheral edge of the one pixel electrode 35 which faces the other pixel electrode 35, a cut portion 621 is formed which has an interval Lg1 with the other pixel electrode 35 larger than an interval Lg2 between the other portion 623 of the opposite edge portion 62 and the other pixel electrode 35.
