PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily produce spherical inorganic powder having high melting rate and high sphericity. SOLUTION: The method for producing spherical inorganic powder comprises a step of adding at least one of fuel gas and combustion improving gas to the mixture of inorganic powder with a fluidizing medium at the tip or in its vicinity of a burner when the mixture is prepared by entraining inorganic powder by the fluidizing medium and jetted into a furnace from the burner. At least the position where one of fuel gas or combustion improving gas is added is in the inside of the tip of the burner and further, preferably in the mixture. The mixture is preferably made to pass through a dispersion means before at least one of fuel gas and combustion improving gas is added to the mixture. At least one of combustion improving gas and non-oxidizing gas is preferably used as the fluidizing medium. Aqueous slurry of the inorganic powder is preferably prepared and supplied.
