PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve conflicting problems of reducing charging time and attaining long service life by preventing deterioration of a battery, without increasing the number of parts to increase the cost in a charging method for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. SOLUTION: This charging method for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery shifts to constant-voltage charging, after being subjected to constant-current charging. By calculating the time rate of change of the voltage during the constant-current charging, and by shifting to the constant-voltage charging, when the time change rate changes from increasing to decreasing, transition to a charging method, corresponding to a surrounding environment represented by the ambient temperature of a battery and deterioration state; is made; and thereby, long service life of the secondary battery can be attained.
