PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a new and improved optical element, capable of efficiently mounting a lens element on a silicon V-shaped groove substrate, and capable of reducing the manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The method comprises a lens element forming process of forming an oxidization layer 104 on a supporting layer 102 and forming the lens element 120 on the top face of a silicone oxide, a coating process of coating the side face of the lens element with soldering metal, and a process of removing the silicon oxide and isolating the lens element. Thus, the soldering metal is easily formed on the side wall of the lens element. By forming the soldering metal on the side wall of the lens element, the solderable lens element is produced. That is, in the case of fixing the lens element to the V-shaped groove substrate 300, the lens element is easily fixed to the V-shaped groove substrate by soldering. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
