The proposed method for automatically controlling an electric pulse unit is distinctive by that the control is accomplished by the deviation of the output parameter of the unit from the specified value. The output parameter is determined as the sum of the quotinent in dividing the voltage across the closed discharge gap by the amplitude value of the discharge current and the amplitude value of the discharge current multiplied by a specified correction coefficient, with consideration for the limit allowable deviation of the output parameter. Additionally, in controlling the unit, the specified value of the output parameter is corrected depending on the specific resistance of the liquid in which the electric charge occurs.
