PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader system capable of reading out multiple sheets of copy images quickly without increasing the costs associated with an image reader apparatus. SOLUTION: The image reader system performs the calibration of a contact image sensor before reading out a first sheet of copy image (#1). Subsequently, when the transferred copy corresponds to an odd page (YES for #3), the contact image sensor reads out the image while moving in the forward direction (#4), then stands by without returning to its home position (#5). When the transferred copy corresponds to an even page (NO for #3), the contact image sensor reads out the image while moving in the backward direction (#10). Afterward, the CPU on a computer inverts the image data for the odd page to a sub-scanning direction, the data are stored on a hard disk drive unit. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
