In a safety razor of the kind disclosed in Specification 731,992 the spider, which is rigidly connected to the spindle 10 for raising and lowering by a toggle, rotary nut &c. in the handle to open and close the cap sections, comprises a carrier bar 11 stamped from a blank and folded to provide a stem 12 for riveting in a fork at the top of the stem and arms 14, the plies of which are spread at the ends to form divergent flanges 15 which are locked between lugs 18 of cross-bars 16. The lugs are swaged or bent to interlock behind the flanges and press the vertical edges of the flanges against the cross-bars which have integral pivot pins 17 for the cap sections. |
