PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device using a dielectric barrier discharge tube capable of displaying a pattern utilizing light emission of a phosphor film. SOLUTION: A discharge space is provided between a lid 13 and a bottom 14 opposed to each other in an enclosure 11, and a character string 17 made of a phosphor film is provided on an inner surface of the lid 13. On an outer surface of the lid 13, there is provided a transparent discharge electrode 19 having a discharge section 19b that is provided only in a part of the entire area opposed to the discharge space, the part including a region that faces the character string 17. A character string 18 facing the character string 17 is provided on an inner surface of the bottom 14. On an outer surface of the bottom 14, there is provided a transparent discharge electrode 20 having a discharge section 20b that is provided only in a part of the entire area opposed to the discharge space, the part including a region that faces the character string 18.
