PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method of the operation of a press by which the conveyance of a workpiece is surely performed, the control is simplified and the productivity is remarkably improved. SOLUTION: When continuously operating a transfer press, the arriving timing at the bottom dead center of each slide is delayed by successively providing phase difference P from the upstream side to the downstream side. In this way, the cycle time c1 of the motion of each slide and the standby time w1 of a feed unit are shortened as compared with a conventional method without increasing the driving speed of each slide and the productivity is improved without affecting the conveyance of the workpiece at all.
