PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system wherein a plurality of terminal side communication apparatus contained in an optical network unit can supply power to the optical network unit. SOLUTION: In the communication system wherein two or more terminal side communication apparatus and one optical network unit are connected via terminal side transmission lines, respectively, the optical network unit and a station side communication apparatus are connected via a station side transmission line, signals corresponding to two or more of the terminal side communication apparatus are multiplexed and transmitted between the station side communication apparatus and the optical network unit, each terminal side communication apparatus includes a means for supplying power to the optical network unit via the terminal side transmission line, and the optical network unit includes a feeding section that receives the power supplied from at least one terminal side communication apparatus via the terminal side transmission line and supplies the power to a communication processing section for carrying out communication processing between the terminal side communication apparatus for supplying the power and the station side communication apparatus.
