<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a housing vessel for a fuel reformer, in which the degree of vacuum can be kept satisfactorily and where the loss of electric power generation is low, and to provide a fuel reforming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In the housing vessel 11 for the fuel reformer, equipped with a base body 1 having a recessed part where the fuel reformer 9 to generate a reformed gas containing hydrogen gas from a fuel is housed, a discharge pipe 5b communicating with the inside of the recessed part and the outside to discharge the reformed gas from the fuel reformer 9, and a supply tube 5a communicating with the inside of the recessed part and the outside to supply the fuel to the fuel reformer 9, a gas adsorbing material 10, formed by sticking a metal powder on the surface of a metal plate, is housed in the recessed part for adsorbing gases in the recessed part, and lead terminals 12 for applying an electric current to the gas adsorbing material 10 are provided in such a manner that each terminal communicates with the inside of the recessed part and the outside.
