PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the influences of a cable at the time of connecting the cable in a steer-by-wire type steering gear of a vehicle using a cable. SOLUTION: A steering wheel 11 is mechanically connected with right and left front wheels FW1 and FW2 via a steering input shaft 12, a cable 31, a steering output shaft 24, and a rack bar 21. An ECU 46 for a steering reaction force gives a steering reaction force to the steering wheel 11 by controlling the drive of an electric motor 13 for the steering reaction force and driving the steering input shaft 12. A turning ECU 45 turns the right and left front wheels FW1 and FW2 by controlling the drive of a turning electric motor 22 and driving the rack bar 21 in an axial line direction. The ECU 46 for the steering reaction force calculates a torsion torque of a cable 31 from the difference between respective rotation angles detected by a steering angle sensor 41 and a rotation angle sensor 42, and corrects a control value of a target steering reaction force relative to the electric motor 13 for the steering reaction force by the calculated torsion torque.
