PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of efficiently reducing side effects of hand shake correction irrespective of a photographic scene. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is equipped with a photographic scene detecting means for automatically detecting the photographic scene, a hand shake correcting means for applying hand shake correction processing to an input image, and a control means for controlling the level of hand shake correction by the hand shake correcting means based upon the photographic scene detected by the photographic scene detecting means. For example, a means for correcting a hand shake by using a reverse filter is used as the hand shake correcting means and a means for controlling a normalization coefficient used to generate the reverse filter based upon the photographic scene detected by the photographic scene detecting means is used as the control means.
