PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of collecting a foreign matter which suppresses damage on a fuel rod to enhance safety in a nuclear reactor. SOLUTION: A foreign matter collecting implement 20 having a filtering mesh member 21b for collecting foreign matters is attached on a pump body 1A of a recirculation pump 1 while the nuclear reactor is stopped. Circulation flow is formed inside a pressure vessel 10 by operating the recirculation pump 1 to capture the foreign matters with the filtering mesh member 21b. Then, the pump 1 is stopped, and the foreign matter collecting implement 20 is taken out of the pressure vessel 10 to collect the foreign matters together with the implement 20.
