PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrophilic film excellent in a surface hydrophilic property and its persistency and a lithographic printing material having the hydrophilic film and to provide a method for preparing a lithographic plate excellent in hydrophilic property of non-image part and its durability by using the lithographic plate. SOLUTION: The hydrophilic film is obtained by curing, by heat and/or light, a film composed of a composition comprising (A) a compound that has, in a molecule thereof, two or more ring structures selected from the group consisting of five-membered ring structures and six-membered ring structures, wherein these ring structures have hydrophilic groups. The composition, further preferably comprises (B) a crosslinking agent. The hydrophilic film is useful as an image recording layer for lithographic printing plates. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
