PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curable resin composition which can give a column spacer capable of effectively reducing color unevenness due to gravitational defect, to provide a column spacer using the curable resin composition, and to provide a liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: The curable resin composition for the column spacer is one comprising an alkali-soluble (meth)acrylic copolymer prepared by copolymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid and/or an unsaturated carboxylic acid anhydride with other unsaturated compounds, an ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable compound, a polyfunctional epoxy compound, and a photoreaction initiator, wherein a cured product of the composition has an elastic modulus of 0.2 to 1.0 GPa after 15% compression at 25°C.
