Photographic silver halide developers contain the reaction product of a polyalkylene oxide with a diepoxide of the formula:- R-(CH 2 )n-R where R is a 2;3-epoxypropoxy group and n is 1 to 4. The reaction products are those described in Specification 947, 790 for use in the silver halide material. Examples are given of developers containing the condensation product of polyethylene glycol and 1;2-di (2<SP>1</SP>;3<SP>1</SP>,-epoxypropoxy)-ethane. The developers may contain hydroquinone, with or without 1-phenyl-3-pyrazolidone and a formaldehyde/bisulphite addition product.</p> |
