摘要 <p>The invention relates to a receiver for optical communications, comprising a nonlinear equaliser. The invention comprises a first input element for an optical fibre (2) through which an information-carrying signal (S1) passes, an optical detector block (3), a nonlinear equaliser block (4) and an end processor block (5). The invention is characterised in that it comprises an electrical nonlinear equaliser block (4) which is connected between the output of the optical detector block (3) and the input of the end processor block (5) and which compensates the quadratic nonlinear characteristic of the optical detector (3). In this way, the optical detector block (3) and the nonlinear equaliser block (4) together have a combined linear characteristic between the electric field envelope of the information-carrying optical signal (S1) in the optical fibre (2) and the electrical signal (S3). As a result, the end processor block (5) can more effectively compensate the linear distortions experienced by the optical signal during transmission through the optical fibre. In this way, the invention comprises an optical receiver (1) with nonlinear compensation of the photodetection process and linear compensation of the linear distortions that occur in transmission through the fibre. <SUP/></p>
