PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a stroke characteristic variable engine provided with a plurality of links to supply lubricating oil simply. SOLUTION: In this stroke characteristic variable engine provided with a first link connected with a piston sliding and matching with a cylinder, a second link for connecting the first link with a crank shaft, and a third link whose one end is connected with the first link or the second link and whose other end is supported on an engine main body through a control shaft, a position of oil level of engine oil stored in an oil pan is set in such a way that at least a part of the control shaft is immersed in engine oil. Consequently, since the oil stored in the oil pan can be utilized as it is, lubrication around the control shaft can be securely performed by a simple configuration. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
