PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolytic capacitor having a structure of an anode body whose dielectric oxide film is hardly damaged by a mechanical stress and small in a leakage current while being suppressed in short-circuit failure, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The solid electrolytic capacitor is equipped with an anode body of aluminum with the dielectric oxide film of amorphous alumina formed on the surface thereof while the anode body is provided with a plurality of tunnel type etching pits formed thereon. The manufacturing method of the solid electrolytic capacitor comprises a process for forming a plurality of tunnel type etching pits on an aluminum member, a process for applying anodic oxidation by dipping the aluminum member into electrolyte containing an acid such as oxalic acid or the like, and a process of applying anodic oxidation at a voltage three times or more of a rated voltage while dipping the aluminum member into electrolyte containing inorganic acid such as boric acid or the like or the salt thereof or organic acid such as adipic acid or the like or the salt thereof.
