The measuring system comprises a counter wheel (1) for counting the number of rotations of the steering wheel and at least one sensor for transmitting the position of the counter wheel and, with that, the number of rotations of the steering wheel. The counter wheel is made from a non-magnetic material and has a recess-free edge (1a) and is spaced at an angle to magnets (2-12) and is associated with a synchronisation magnet (15) on firmly connected building blocks (14) on the steering column of the steering wheel. Each full rotation of the steering wheel results in the magnets of the counter wheel moving at a defined angle. The counter wheel~s magnets may be associated with a holder magnet. The synchronisation magnet may have greater field strength than the holder magnet.
