PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce generation of color irregularities and an influence of cockling when the fluctuations in the speed of data generation or data transfer are large. SOLUTION: The recording device is provided with a data generation device, a buffer, a recording engine, a standard path height setting device, a minimum path height setting device, a path division height deciding device, a path divisional number setting device and a path management device, wherein the data which are generated by the data generation device and are written into the buffer are read by the recording engine and are recorded in a recording medium. The path division height deciding device decides, as a path division height, the height of the data which are limited in a range from not less than the set minimum path height to not larger than the set standard path height and are not recorded once in the buffer. Furthermore, the path management device commands a sub-scanning conveying operation equivalent to the decided path division height and the recording action by the main scanning operation to the recording engine, when the height of the data not recorded in the buffer once becomes higher than the decided path division height.
