The coffin (1) has a rectangular shape having dimensions of the order of 50 centimeter in width, 60 centimeter in height and 170 centimeter in length, with an opening (2) at an upper level and on the whole length of the coffin. The opening permits to effectuate casketing uniquely on the left or right side of a defunct body. An independent cover (4) constitutes a coffin part connected by articulations.
