<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery which is excellent in mountability, has a long life, and provides a sufficiently large output. <P>SOLUTION: A battery cell is provided with a cathode sheet 21 having an edge side 21m where a cathode current collector is provided and an edge side 21n opposing to the edge side 21m, and an anode sheet 26 having an edge side 26m where an anode current collector is provided and an edge side 26n opposing to the edge side 26m. The cathode sheet 21 and the anode sheet 26 are wound in a laminated state such that the direction from the edge side 21m toward the edge side 21n and the direction from the edge side 26m toward the edge side 26n are mutually in the opposite direction. The cathode sheet 21 is formed so that the thickness increases from the edge side 21n toward the edge side 21m.
