PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and equipment for transporting sediment accumulated on the bottom of the water, which enable the sediment, accumulated on the bottom of the water, to be transported by being collected over a wide range through the use of a simple structure. SOLUTION: A flexible traction pipe 21, the side surface part of which is equipped with an opening 22, is placed on the sediment S which is accumulated in the state of closing an opening 22 of the traction pipe 21; a suction pipe 28 is connected to a base end 21b of the traction pipe 21; and a water flow is formed from a leading end opening 21a to the base end 21b by a water-flow forming means 29, so that the accumulated sediment S facing the opening 22 can be sucked in and transported, while being tracted. Thus, the flexibility of the traction pipe 21 makes the traction pipe 21 follow a conical cavity of the accumulated sediment S, which is formed around the leading end opening 21a of the traction pipe 21; and the great sinking of the leading end and the collapse of the surrounding sediment enable three-dimensional conical scouring to be performed over a wide range by using the two-dimensionally shaped traction pipe 21.
