<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high density packaging of disk drives and a large capacity and high speed device for improving the efficiency and reliability. <P>SOLUTION: In a disk array device having a box 27 for containing a number of disk drives 26, each unit housing 114 includes a liquid cooling system comprising an air blowing fan 33, a pump for sending liquid coolant 107, a radiator 102 for discharging heat of the liquid coolant outward, a pipe 101 for connecting them altogether. The number of revolutions of the pump is detected by a thermal sensor 120 disposed on the part of the pipe near the entry of the radiator and changed depending on the detected temperature. Herewith, cooling performance of the disk drives mounted in the disk array housing is improved, and the temperature rise and difference between the disk drives are reduced so that high reliability and long lives of disk drives and cooling system can be realized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
