<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the efficiency of printing processing by discriminating a job for a specific task from the other jobs and canceling only the job for the specific task on the occurrence of an error. <P>SOLUTION: A printer 100 is connected to a host computer 102, which creates printing instructions and printing data, via a network 101. The printer 100 comprises a printer controller 103, an operation panel 104, and a printer engine 105. The printer controller 103 generates printing image data. Processing instructions from a user are inputted into the operation panel 104. The operation panel 104 is equipped with a display part for displaying various pieces of information.
