PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyvinyl alcohol film roll which is excellent in handling properties even when a core tube is elongated and can suppress the wrinkles, folding, etc., of the polyvinyl alcohol film and a polarizing film using the film roll. SOLUTION: In the polyvinyl alcohol film roll formed by winding the polyvinyl alcohol film onto the peripheral surface of the cylindrical core tube, the core tube is made of a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic material, and the modulus of elasticity of the core tube is at least 98 GPa.
